Welcome to the Tidewater Chapter’s 2017-2018 fiscal year. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Stewart, our Immediate Past President, and the entire board for their dedication and service to this organization. A special thank you goes to Diane Reed for leading a committee charged with planning and implementing the Chapter’s new website. This committee spent hours reading proposals and watching demonstrations and the results of their hard work go live soon. Our fifteen-member board meets monthly to discuss chapter events, to plan continuing education and to address areas of focus. This year we are deploying a new website and reaching out to the young professionals across Hampton Roads. Members, be intentional and educate the young professionals in your offices about our Chapter and the value of membership. This Chapter guarantees thirty-one hours of quality continuing education with various social events included. A social was held earlier this month at O’Connor Brewing Company. The annual Tides game is planned for June 28th, and there are plans for a second holiday social. Student Night engages students from local institutions in round-table discussions with professionals in the public, private and governmental sectors. Our hope is to expose students to our Chapter through the Student Night and the scholarships offered, so they engage and participate upon graduation.
After two years of planning and two attempts requesting proposals, the Tidewater Chapter employed a local firm to develop a new website. The dues payment section will deploy May 8th and the entire website should be live by May 30th. As always, update your professional information so we know how to contact you. For those who always pay their dues early, do not fret. We keep a record and will transfer your payment information into our new database. Email a board member if you run into any trouble using this website. Chapter dues continue another year at $150. If paid by May 31, 2017, a $5 discount will be honored. Your continued membership ensures our Chapter’s continued success.
