Dear TCVSCPA Members:
Welcome to the Tidewater Chapter’s 2025-2026 fiscal year! As we embark on this new chapter, let’s take a moment to celebrate our accomplishments from the past year and recognize the incredible contributions that made them possible. I extend heartfelt thanks to Amber Shimp, our Immediate Past President, and the entire board for their outstanding leadership and dedication, which have been vital to our chapter’s continued success.
I encourage you to connect with our board members at upcoming events, including our in-person CPE seminars this fall and the always-enjoyable annual Tides baseball game social. Your participation and feedback are invaluable as we strive to enhance your member experience.
Over the past year, the Tidewater Chapter proudly offered more than 70 hours of high-quality CPE, with the majority delivered in a convenient webinar format—allowing you to participate from anywhere in Hampton Roads. This year, we’ll be leveraging Kaplan’s online course offerings to bring you even more variety with a focus on content that is both relevant and timely. At the same time, we recognize the growing interest in in-person opportunities. To meet this need, we are excited to announce plans for two in-person seminars later this fall as well as the continuation of our Economic Forecast Breakfast series in late-Winter. If you have a presentation idea that you believe would interest your fellow members, please reach out to Gil Carey or Dan Vitez to discuss potential speaking opportunities.
Membership dues for the 2025-2026 fiscal year will remain at $150 if paid by June 15th and $155 thereafter. Don’t miss out on the early bird discount— renew your membership by June 15th to continue enjoying exclusive benefits. Renewals will open on our website starting May 1st.
We are also looking for passionate members to join our board! Serving on the board is a rewarding way to give back to the local CPA community while gaining invaluable personal and professional development opportunities. Fresh perspectives and innovative ideas are essential as we navigate an everevolving industry. If you’re interested in contributing to the chapter’s future, we encourage you to connect with any current board members to learn more about the next steps.
Thank you for your ongoing support and membership. Together, we can make the 2025-2026 fiscal year even more impactful. Your ideas and feedback are the foundation of our success, and we look forward to collaborating with you to strengthen our offerings and community.
Sincerely,
Kenon Thomas, CPA, CFE
TCVSCPA President
